Brain Health Checklist: Connection, Calm & Clever Shortcuts

Protect your brain with calm, connection, and tools that support—not overwhelm—you.

 Social Connection

  • Plan one “anchor” activity this week (group, class, faith, volunteer, or lunch date).
  • Schedule two micro-check-ins by call or message.
  • Try a conversation booster: ask a follow-up question or reflect back what someone said.
  • If hearing or vision makes socializing hard, book a checkup or update your devices.

Mindfulness & Stress Management

  • Practice 4–6 breathing daily (inhale 4, exhale 6 for 3–5 minutes).
  • Add one mindful moment during a daily task (walking, dishes, tea, shower).
  • Try a 5–10 minute guided meditation 3 times this week.
  • Write down one worry + one action step to reduce mental clutter.

Technology That Supports You

  • Choose one helpful tool:
  • Brain game or learning app (10–15 min, 3–4 times/week)
  • Reminder app or smart speaker for tasks and meds
  • Simple tablet or phone setup for easy calls and photo sharing
  • Create a short “how-to” for your chosen tool and practice it 3 times.
  • Set up a shared calendar or favorites list for one-tap access to key contacts.

Health Checkups That Help the Brain

  • Book or confirm your:
  • Vision exam
  • Hearing exam
  • Medication review (ask about side effects that affect memory)
  • Vascular health check (blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol)
  • Talk to your doctor about any memory concerns or persistent brain fog.

 Keep It Going

  • Review what helped at the end of the week. Keep what worked; adjust what didn’t.
  • Add one new habit each week (small and doable).
  • Celebrate progress—brain health is a long game, and every step counts.
