Chemotherapy Support

Helping you and your loved ones feel more prepared, informed, and supported during treatment

  • Do I understand why chemotherapy is recommended for my type/stage of cancer?
  • Have I reviewed the goal of my treatment (e.g., cure, control, palliation)?
  • Has my care team explained how chemo will be given (IV, oral, etc.)?
  • Do I know how often I’ll receive treatment and for how long?
  • Have I had a conversation about potential side effects and how to manage them?
  • Did I receive information about fertility, hair loss, or organ protection (if relevant)?
  • Have I scheduled a dental or eye exam (recommended before starting chemo)?
  • Do I have a list of who to call if I feel unwell or have questions after hours?
  • Do I have a support person who can drive me to treatments or help at home if needed?
  • Have I stocked up on easy meals, fluids, and comfort items?
  • Have I discussed time off work or school, if needed?
  • Did I check with my care team about vitamins, supplements, or over-the-counter meds?
  • Do I have medications to help with nausea, appetite, or constipation?
  • Am I drinking enough fluids and eating small, nourishing meals when I can?
  • Have I planned for rest days after treatment?
  • Do I know when to call my doctor (fever, uncontrolled nausea, bleeding, etc.)?
  • Do I feel emotionally supported by family, friends, or a caregiver?
  • Have I been offered or asked about counseling or mental health support?
  • Have I connected with a cancer support group (in person or online)?
  • Am I giving myself grace and space to rest, grieve, or adjust?
  • What can I expect during and after each treatment session?
  • Are there clinical trials or alternative therapies that apply to me?
  • What lifestyle changes can help support my treatment?
  • How will we know if the treatment is working?
