Modern healthcare is complicated—so much so that even professionals can feel overwhelmed. For patients and families, the experience can be even more confusing and isolating. That’s why The Art of Being ILL exists.

Modern healthcare is complicated—so much so that even professionals can feel overwhelmed. For patients and families, the experience can be even more confusing and isolating. That’s why The Art of Being ILL exists.

My mission is simple: to empower patients and their loved ones with the knowledge, support, and advocacy they need to move through illness with clarity, confidence, and dignity.

When you’re navigating a health crisis, every decision matters. But without the right tools and information, it’s easy to feel lost. I believe that when we know better, we advocate better. And when we advocate better, we get better care.

That’s why I created The Art of Being ILL—a space dedicated to turning confusion into clarity, and fear into informed action.

Because no one should have to face illness alone or uninformed.

At The Art of Being ILL, a few core beliefs guide everything I do:

Knowledge is power

  • Every voice matters
  • Advocacy is a right
  • These values fuel our community and shape how we show up for one another. The pillars of this work are:

Compassion
 Clarity
 Advocacy
 Integrity
 Empowerment

If these resonate with you, you’re not alone. Together, we can redefine how we experience illness.

“Illness can feel like a dense forest—quiet, shadowed, and hard to navigate. But even in the wildest thickets, peace grows.”

At The Art of Being ILL, my vision is to transform the experience of illness from isolation and confusion into one of connection, healing, and empowerment. This is a space where patients feel heard, respected, and informed—where advocacy meets compassion.

At The Art of Being ILL, we explore the realities of illness with honesty, heart, and a dose of clarity. Whether it’s the hidden struggles of chronic pain, the challenges of navigating hospital care, or the quiet strength of caregivers, this blog touches on what it really means to be vulnerable in a complex system. Week by week, we unpack topics like compassion in medicine, patient empowerment, cultural bias, aging, overmedication, and end-of-life decisions. This is a space for those seeking truth, comfort, and the courage to ask better questions. If you’re tired of feeling powerless in the face of illness—this is for you.

I invite you to join me as we reimagine the patient experience, one post at a time.

As always thanks for being here, it really means a lot.  One small voice or share means the difference for many.

I’d love to hear your thoughts—feel free to leave a comment, like, and share with friends who might relate.
